I wanted to run a video up the old blog pole and see how it unfurled. Snailboy’s Edgar Broughton post reminded me of this wacko from the 70’s glam scene. Also, we share the same birthday, so ladies and gentleman: THE SENSATIONAL ALEX HARVEY BAND

Ok, this one is old-news for my bromies over here… mainly ‘cuz there were a couple of months years there where this was *all I played* when we hung out… but I have to plug it anyway! This is easily one of my most prized discoveries. Totally freaked out raw space-funk from out of nowhere. Sounds like Fred Schneider (yeah, the B52’s guy) fronting the rawest incarnation of the Funkadelics. Turn it up and check out the crazy intro dialog.
People are running… where are they going?
Truly a question for the ages. Deets (as best as I’ve found):
Artist: Sidney Owens & North, South Connection
Album: “Funkie Shortin’ Bread” [45]
Label: Movin’ Up
Year: 197X (?)
Good luck tracking down (and affording) the original 45rpm… or learning anything about the mysterious geniuses behind the music (if you have some info, please please please share it in the comments down there!).
Some sketchy but helpful 7in label called “Scorpio Sounds” reissued this a while back. Once again, GEMM is yr friend.
If you don’t love this cut, we cannot be friends. So, dig it future friend!
