As usual, Derek’s Daily turned me on to this one ages ago. It’s been stuck on repeat over here lately so I figured that’s my cue to share! Supposedly dude was only 17 when he cut this.
Dig it brobrothers & sisters!

Hey team! I’m back in action after a looooong summer-imposed timeout. What can I say? I had shit to do. Get off my back already! Anyway, here’s something to make up for my delinquency.
Crabby Appleton were an L.A. band who made it big with this li’l ditty back in 1970… and never saw chart success again. But hey they got to hang with Sly so I’m thinking it was all worth it.
This is their big cut “Go Back”. I’m posting it here ‘cuz the drums / drummer is ruling and, well, that’s pretty much all it takes to get me psyched these days. It’s a nice slab of pop/rock/psych/garage/arentgenresdumb?/hottness. Enjoy!

I had a hard time finding out much info on this track (what with the huge “branding iron porn” community) but I’ve been super into this one recently. But I digress…If soul bands had conductors and the Rza had a father I would have spent days trying to find out if this was him. The beats and horns are all over the place, yet always seem to be in the right place at the right time…and tight…and out of sight? Can you believe how deep I’m being? Me either. You should probably just hit play..It’s a Stax/Volt jam, so you know it’s good.

EPIC! TUESDAYS!
Ok friends, I’m digging myself out of a pile of work here so forgive the brevity of my comments. This one more or less speaks for itself though… and I think you’ll agree it is sufficiently EPIC!
It’s worth noting that my bromie Fingers originally brought this cut into my world (I will forever be indebted).

Brobots have spring fever! Out here in the NW, that usually means… it’s gonna rain.
The first 30secs of this cut are magical. Almost nothing out there on Ms. Morrison… sharing a name with a popular(?) wiccan author doesn’t help. Dang. What we do know is that she was a lead singer with the Edwin Hawkins Singers and cut the definitive version of “Oh Happy Day”. So, yeah, there’s that… YOU LISTEN!

As the gray clouds of winter conquer skies of summer blue, I lean on my plow, I think of how… how I’m missing you.
Sing it!
When I’m out farming tanning my shit, this is my theme song. Nothing grows yr corn like the salty tears of a man in love.
These guys were from the southside of Chicago (like me!… er, kinda) so I’m not sure how much farming they can claim to have done… but don’t let that get in the way of enjoying this cut.
Um… It’s doo-wop funk people… put yr hands together!

Good ol’ Dusty Groove reissued it. Go. Do it!
P.P.S. It’s worth noting that All Music lists the “themes” for this one as “Maverick” and “Seduction”… Yep. Seriously.
