R. Stevie Moore….Self-proclaimed creative genius, home-recording pioneer, incredibly prolific and criminally obscure. R. Stevie Moore began home-recording in 1966 and has since released over 400 self-released tapes and CD-rs as well as a handful of proper albums released on labels around the globe. “I Wanna Hit You” was recorded in 1977 and from what I can gather was self-released on the album “Swing and Miss: 77” sporting an unabashed rip-off album cover of the Talking Heads first record. The track is a bleary slice of pop mastery complete with schizo lyrics of love and detest. It’s easy to see why Mr. Moore has seen a resurgence over the past few years….”I Wanna Hit You” is an indie-pop nugget that pre-dates the recent home-recording boom by about 20-30 years. My Pal Dave turned me on to Stevie several weeks ago and I haven’t been able to get this track as well as several of his songs out of my head….a perfect candidate for the Broblog.

The man….the myth:

So…yea….a definite freak and absolutely a genius. I invite you, my fellow Broblogians, to enter and explore the blurry and beautiful world of R. Stevie Moore.
