There are days where nothing cheers me up and gets me smiling again like Lee Hazlewood. The sincerity, the cheese, the catchy-as-fuck pop songs, the stories, that uncanny voice, the unmistakable moustache. There’ll never be another like him….he was an American original and they broke the frickin’ mold folks. Today was one of those days where Lee came to the rescue, so I had to post one of my all time favorite tracks…”Pour Man”.

“Pour Man” is a deep cut off of the 1968 album Love and Other Crimes. The song tells the story of a man who sits on death row awaiting the final punishment. As he contemplates what he’s done he tells us the story of how he came to be in this precarious situation. It’s a heart-wrenching tale of love and murder set to an incredible country-sizzled pop jammer with the sickest heart-beat rhythm you’re likely to hear anywhere.

So, if your feelin’ blue let Lee tell you a story….crack a beer and a smile and get back in the saddle.
