Hey folks….sorry I been out of the posting loop….it’s been a hectic couple weeks. I have some killer tracks lined up for the coming week but for now I wanted to share this incredible video of probably my favorite band coming out of the “congotronic” scene, Sobanza Mimanisa. The video captures the band performing the track “Kiwembo” live along with some people dancing at the outdoor bar where they are performing. This audio track along with the video can be found on the Congotronics 2 compilation put out by Crammed Discs a few years ago after Konono No.1 opened the door to the world for this incredibly original sound coming out of Kinshasa and it’s surrounding villages and towns in the Congo. The spontaneity of the performance and ridiculously good lo-fi sound just gets me every time. Enjoy.
