brobots!

Bloody hell it’s been a while since I hit up the Broblog….sorry for the radio silence…but I hope this makes up for lost time.

RUGGGEDDD riddim from Tony Roach y Callo Collins on the Rythem Track label circa 1985. This one’s got it all…dig those sick piano stabs….merderous beats and synth. Tony be controlling tha area with this one.

Digikiller has just re-issued these 7”s….they’ve been getting a plethora of spins at Brobots nights around Boston….Fingers can attest!

I guess this has been around for a year or so, but I’m firing my interweb browsing manager because I’m just seeing it now!  Graphicology does a great job of breaking down the originals v the reimagined covers in the video.

BONUS:  Just because it realtes to this post…Wu-Note

JORGE BEN - UMBABARAUMA

Just wanted to get this up here in honor of the World Cup.  I’ve been super into creating soundtracks to replace the Vuvuzelas.  Snailboy and I did up a mix that I’ll add a link to once we get it hosted (paging Dr. Fever!), in the mean time this track is one of my all time favorites and fits in with the International soccer vibe I’ve been going for (It’s about an African point man!).  Give a shout if you’ve got any other suggestions in the comments section.

Artist: Jorge Ben
Album: Africa Brasil
Year: 1976
Label: Philips

UPDATE:  Apparently doing research beforehand has its benefits - Nike beat me to the punch.
